When playing with the Sentinels. it depends how many Sentinels you have to how many opponents you give them. If you only have a Prime And one set of Sentinels, you may not want to pit them against the whole X-Men team. Like all teams you have to take into account luck of dice rolls and competence of your team players into acount.
But who are the Sentinels?
After the second Brotherhood of Evil Mutants tried to assassinate Senator Robert Kelly while he was performing a public research on the possible threat of superhuman beings and mutants, the President’s Cabinet authorized secret and illegal Project Wideawake to research and, if needed, capture any superhuman mutant that the Project management could consider a threat to national security. The Project’s head was Henry Gyrich, answering only to the President, with Senator Kelly himself as an special consultant.
The government contacted industrial tycoon Sebastian Shaw, ignoring that Shaw was a evil mutant himself, to build the new breed of Sentinels. Shaw Industries is authorized by the government to build top-secret Sentinels to be used in Project Awakening.
Shaw produced three models: Mark IV Sentinels, Mark V Sentinels and Mark VI Sentinels. None of these models proved to be as formidable as the Mark II and Mark III Sentinels. The models were constantly being modified and improved. Shaw secretly used Sentinels to attack his own enemies, the X-Men, but the government was unaware of this.

Cables: The Mark IV could attack with cables from their wrists.
Energy Blast: The Mark IV had an amount of different blasts, including but not limited to plasma, electrons, stunning gas and heat, that could be shot from their palms and eyes. They were also armed with a disintegrator that only worked with inorganic matter.
Flight using jets built into their feet.
Learning Program: A special learning program allowed a particular Mk IV a certain advantage when fighting an enemy, but only after at least one minute of analysis. This data could be stored for future uses against the same enemy, so that any Sentinel from any model could access the information (and Shaw or the government could authorize the development of special weaponry). However, any needed modification would take at least one week.
Mutant Detection: The Sentinels constantly scanned all the living beings in the immediate surrounding area and were able to determine if they were humans or mutants.
Robot: Due to its nature, the sentinels were protected by the sheer strength of the hull. They could not be affected by emotional or mental attacks, nor by illusions. However, they were susceptible to attacks affecting machinery.
Searching Lights: This model’s eyes were equipped with searching lights.
They have a high level of fight and in the Graphic Novels have taken down some very high level super heroes.

Sentinel Prime mk4
The Prime Sentinels were created when Bastion initiated the Operation: Zero Tolerance program. These Sentinels were actually humans who had been fitted with cybernetic nanotech implants, which, upon activation, transformed the humans into armoured beings with powerful weapons systems. These altered humans set up as sleeper agents, unaware of their natures until a signal from the Operation: Zero Tolerance base activated their programming. These Sentinels were used by Bastion to capture Professor X for his own purposes, as well as attack various mutants associated with the X-Men across the country. Bastion and his Prime Sentinels were eventually defeated by the X-Men with help from the government agency, S.H.I.E.L.D., who shut down Operation: Zero Tolerance.
The Omega Prime Sentinel class was a scrapped prototype design initially conceived by the director of the Prime Sentinel Network, Bastion, and intended to spearhead the Zero Tolerance initiative, with the most recent addition to his ranks, Karima Shapandar, to be among the first of many whom he would soon create in order to lead his Bio-Sentinel forces. Bastion revitalized it through the Trans mode / Apocalypse Virus while creating his Human High Council. Similar to the standard Prime Sentinel precursors, Omega Primes were Sentinels who were forcibly modified through an infection of nanotechnology injected into them by the mutant hunting Synthenoid who created them. But these were apparently prototypes, as their designs were clunkier than other Prime Sentinels. The only difference being their ability to adapt and evolve new and deadly mechanical apparatuses through their biomechanical Microtech, which made up their cybernetic anatomy.
In a unique twist, Bastion would eventually revive the Omega Sentinel program after being revived through his use of a Spawn of the Technarchy known as Magus. As the Nimrod programming began to act irregularly with the Celestial Technology within his system, Bastion began to revert into his Nimrod persona and, in the act of which, transformed two of his Councilmen into advanced Prime Sentinels reminiscent to Nimrod himself
