Add new elements of gameplay to Carcassonne by being able to trade and build with this second expansion pack to increase the challenge and fun when playing this game with friends. New “Trade” tiles are introduced to the existing pack of tiles from the original game – Wine, Grain and Cloth. When a player draws this type of tile they can add it to a city they’re building. Once the city has been completed that player collects the matching token for each good in the city. At the end of the game whoever has the most goods in each category scores an additional 10 points!
There is a popular house rule that allows the trading of goods between players in exchange for other goods and to be able to choose where that tile is placed. All depending on your negotiation skills of course!
Two new types of meeples are added for each player to use drawing the gameplay to assist your existing meeples – a Builder and Pig. The Builder may be placed in a city or road you’re already building (i.e you have already placed down one of your meeples for this) to be able to build them faster. From that point forward anytime you add a tile to that city or road, you can take a second turn that go and draw another tile to place. However when determining control of a city or road, the Builder doesn’t act like another meeple and so cannot be counted for this.
The Pig may be placed on a farm you’re already farming on (i.e you have already placed down one of your meeples for this) to be able to score more points per completed city – 4 instead of 3!
Lastly this expansion includes a large cloth bag to make it easier to shuffle and draw tiles during the game. This also prevents those savvy players noticing the reverse of cards looking slightly different and using this to decide which tile to pick.
