This time we take a look at the Rebel expansions for Star Wars Armada, note there are no spoilers here, as we give you a flavour of what you get, but leave the surprise of the actual new heroes, mods etc for you when open the box.
Assault Frigate MkII Expansion
There are 5 duplicate cards in this expansion, namely a Weapons Liaison, Gunnery Team, Electronic Countermeasures, Enhanced Armament & H9 Turbolasers. However, you do get 2 new Capital Ships Cards and 9 new upgrade cards. Here they are:-
- 2 new Capital Ship cards
- 2 new Title cards
- 1 new Commander card
- 1 new Weapons Team card
- 2 new Officer cards
- 1 new Turbolaser card
- 1 new Offensive Retrofit card
- 1 new Defensive Retrofit card
I recommend this expansion because it gives the Rebel player a Capital Ship which is fairly quick, but has much more firepower. The new upgrade cards can provide some nice twists to your gameplay. For instance, shielding friendly squadrons from damage, increased side armaments & free Command Tokens for your entire fleet…
Nebulon B Frigate Expansion
The Capital Ship cards are exactly the same as the Core Set. You also get a few more duplicate cards, namely a Defense Liaison, Engineering Team & Enhanced Armament. So whats new:-
- 2 new Title cards
- 1 new Officer card
- 1 new Support Team card
- 1 new Turbolaser card
This expansion is quite worthwhile because the new cards give increased strategic depth in how you use your Corvettes. For instance, the ability to ignore obstacles, gaining free command tokens & cancelling a counter-defense die result…
CR90 Corvette Expansion
The Capital Ship cards are exactly the same as the Core Set. You also get a few more duplicate cards, namely a Nav Team, Electronic Countermeasures & H9 Turbolasers. However, what you don’t get in the Core Set is:-
- 2 new Title cards
- 1 new Commander card
- 1 new Officer card
- 1 new Ion Cannon card
This expansion is quite worthwhile because the new cards give increased strategic depth in how you use your Star Destroyers. For instance, the ability to exhaust all defenses of an enemy, double critical damage, or even increasing the hull values of your entire fleet….
Rebel Fighter Squadrons Expansion
This expansion give you 2 additional X-Wing Squadrons and 6 new fighter squadrons, split between A-Wings, B-Wings & Y-Wings. The only card in this Expansion that you also get in the Core Set, is the X-Wing Squadron card. So the new cards are (no spoilers):-
- 1 new X-Wing Hero card
- 1 new A-Wing Squadron card
- 1 new A-Wing Hero card
- 1 new B-Wing Squadron card
- 1 new B-Wing Hero card
- 1 new Y-Wing Squadron card
- 1 new Y-Wing Hero card
I recommend this expansion because the extra squadron types and abilities can really improve your Capital Ship damage potential…
