For fans of the Coconuts board game or those looking for a 2 player standalone game wanting to further test their dexterity check out Coconuts Duo. Whilst being a standalone game, you can also use it as expansion to the main game to increase the number of the players to 5 or 6 players. Good news for those that were fans of the game at UK Games Expo last year, where it was a sell out. However be warned things will get even crazier then!
New features to the gameplay whether playing standalone or as an expansion:
- New magic cards with special abilities and attributes
- Call The Wind – divert your opponent player’s shot by blowing, where you can use a fan!
- Guess Who – your opponent has to close their eyes whilst taking the shot
- Hurt Finger – your opponent has to use their elbow instead!
- Red Sunglasses – all cups will function for you as red cups for one turn – as long as you keep landing your coconuts in to any cups you can keep shooting
- Shield – guard your cup for one shot
- The Referee Didn’t See It – when your opponent makes a successful shot, it becomes invalid and they have to re-shoot
- New green coconuts (along with the existing brown ones as in the original version) allowing more colour and variations in game play
Coconuts Duo could be a good route in if you’re not sure and perhaps have been put off from the price of the original version, as is cheaper with it being a smaller game. Did you know Coconuts is made in Korea with limited scale and without massive distribution, hence perhaps the higher retail price than you may otherwise expect. So if you’re not sure this Duo version could be a good way to check out the game, first using the standalone version element before perhaps then considering the main version to expand it.
The winner, as in the original version, is the first player that is able to complete a pyramid of six cups on his player board. This game is fun for all ages from 6 upwards for 2 players standalone and with the original game up to 6 players. Each game takes about 20 mins to play, allowing for several crazy games to be played with friends.
