Village Inn is the first expansion for the award winning game Village board game, introducing new game play elements. It allows you to play with up to 5 players (previously 4) – increasing the fun and perhaps tactical nightmare (as one more player to take into account what actions they might take) with friends. It introduces 2 new buildings to the village:
- The brewery – a new craft building to acquire a new good – beer.
- The inn – meet new people in the village, where some of these will have an influential benefit for you and they can be acquired as cards by spending beer/coins and time.
Each villager card has a unique ability that can be used once per game to either acquire further points, gain an advantage during the gameplay or additional points at the end of the game for particular achievements. This in particular brings new gameplay elements to the game that makes this expansion a worthwhile addition for fans of this game.
Some of the villager cards will make it easier for you to acquire additional goods or undertake certain actions during the game. Others like the Bard will help a family member who has died go into the ledger and be remembered to gain extra points. The cards for gaining additional points at the end of the game could be for how many cubes of a particular colour you have or how many different goods you have acquired.
